SG/PRC’s Community Outreach Specialists
Josie Martinez & Amos Byun
How can SG/PRC’s new Community Outreach Specialists help promote Purchase of Services (POS) Equity in our community? How can they help families understand and access services available to them?
These positions have the responsibility at our agency to implement a variety of programs to promote equity in accessing Purchase of Service (POS) services for people we serve. They have already begun reaching out and supporting existing parent support groups. They provide training and information, specifically, focused on helping our community understand the services available and how those services can be accessed by our families.
Providing education and outreach to the community at large will be another area that they will be focusing on. This type of outreach is primarily to bring awareness of the regional center system to the community to help connect those who may require our services and supports at some point in their lives.
Families can now schedule a Person-Centered Conversation session These sessions are individual on-on-one meetings which are offered in English, Spanish, Korean and Chinese. To schedule your own individual session, please call the Parents’ Place at (626) 919-1091. The purpose of these meetings is to help parents understand and/or navigate the services that regional centers can offer. For more information, please click on flyers below:
