Elisa has been serving in this role with SG/PRC since 2016. She has worked with many individuals throughout the years discussing important advocacy issues and facilitating numerous conversations about accessing generic resources in the community.

Earlier this year, Elisa joined the newly developed SG/PRC Communications & Public Engagement Department.  In this department, her title was recently changed to be more reflective and respectful of individuals served. Her role is now much more public facing working alongside our Communications and Public Engagement Officer, Public Information Specialist and providing input on projects surrounding emergency preparedness with our Emergency Management Coordinator.

Elisa is a key player in initiating and coordinating informative training opportunities for individuals served.  She created the SG/PRC Client Training Group (CTG) several years ago and has even been the lead presenter of many topics presented for this group.  Most topics presented at the CTG are selected from feedback or concerns she receives on a consistent basis from individuals served. Elisa recently relaunched a “NEW” Client Training Group in July of 2023.  This training group is a great platform designed for adult individuals to discuss hot topics, self-advocacy, and important resources to develop, grow and thrive. The Client Training Group is now held every other month via ZOOM format.

Elisa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development with an emphasis in Counseling Services from the California State University of San Marcos. This educational background in combination with her own real-life experiences, as an individual served, has contributed to her success as the Advocacy Liaison.  She consistently partners with case management to provide tools and useful information to individuals to help them navigate generic resources in the community such as ACCESS Transportation Services, IHSS, Social Security, and more. Elisa also participates in annual meetings with the Disabled Student Programs & Services Advisory Board through Citrus College to stay in touch with changes that may impact accommodation services for disabled students.

In planning for future projects, Elisa has recently started to collaborate with the EMPOWER NOW group of self-advocates at their monthly meetings and special events. She has already been meeting with our internal SG/PRC specialists to plan out training opportunities in 2024. She will continue to work on finding avenues to engage many of you in future opportunities to learn about self-advocacy and other topics of interest. Stay tuned…2024 is looking bright!
